From Philly.com:
While huge in Australia, with five No. 1 albums in a row, Silverchair’s classic-rock-influenced sounds have never won more than cult acclaim here. But “Young Modern,” just out, insists on being noticed and adored, with its alternately honeyed and harrowing vocals by Daniel Johns, richly embellished tunes and audaciously cinematic productions, which the lads duplicate live with the help of two keyboard players. Devotees of English rock grandeur (Moody Blues, Queen, Beatles, Move, Bowie) will especially understand and relish the spiritual passing of baton intrinsic in gems like “Reflections of a Sound” and the oh, so suite “Those Thieving Birds/Strange Behavior.”
The trio couldn’t have asked for a more compatible show opener than the glam-rock-evoking duo We Are The Fury, sure to sprinkle lots of ziggy stardust all over the stage.
Fillmore at TLA, 334 South St., 9 p.m. tomorrow, $21, 215-336-2000, www.livenation.com.
